Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

I am growing my hair out and all the time when i see my parents its like they are trying to make me get a haircut. What should i do or tell my parents that im not going to cut my hair unless it needs to be trimmed? They always ask me when im going to get a haircut.

if you're a guy, then THIS I can aswer. i grew my hair out too. both of my parents didn't like it. well, my mom didn't and my dad... well, i only got to know him last year, so i would tell him that it wasn't like he could change the way i do things just 'cause he finally met me after 18 years of not knowing him. you just gotta' keep strong... i used to say, "i don't know" and slowly walk away.... tell them that you're trying this 'cause you want to try something new, my mom kind of backed off on me when i told her this.

Ask them

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

It depends on if your a girl or a boy or how long your hair is.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Are u male of female?

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

it depends,

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Probably because your hair looks like a girls'. Between that and your nail polish they are worried about the son they are trying to raise right.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

They are probably just old fashioned and expect your hair to be clean cut and short. Just let them know that this is the way I prefer my hair.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

I have seen only a select few that can pull of a decent length, otherwise.. it looks dirty and unkept.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Well tell them it is your hair and you do what you want to it..

But it does need a little trim every once in a while, it will actually help the growth because of the dead ends.

Have a discussion with your parents about what is important in life and maybe promise that in the future, if it ever becomes a problem or in any way threatens your survival or viability in the world (i.e. you're trying to get a job with a straight-laced organization), you'll get it cut.

In the meantime, apologize to them if they think you're appearance is embarrassing to them, and maybe note that the feeling is mutual (well, if it is).

I would say their just liberal douches. Or christian. They will never change thier opinion, I would strongly recommend just doing whats right to you. Screw them. Be yourself.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

they probably think that their son is a transvestite.. no offense.. just let em know that ur not and thats the way you want your hair. =]

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Ask them why it is so important to them that you cut your hair. Or you could just explain to them why don't want to cut your hair and then politely ask them to quit asking about the haircut. Just say something like "I am happy with the length of my hair. Please don't bring it up again. Thank you." Or something like that.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Parents always want their kids to look nice and clean cut, they probably just don't approve of your hair length. But hey, it's your hair, wear it however you want!

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Look at nature. What does it tell you about guy's with long hair? Just go from there, do some home-made philosophy, and you should be able to understand why your parent's want you to cut your hair.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Tell your parents (in a nice way) that you'd prefer that they focus on something besides your hair; that you will decide when it's time for a haircut. The more they complain, the longer your hair will grow.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

Because of the generation gap, a lot of parents aren't as comfortable with their "little boy" having long, hippy-type hair. Just explain to them that you like your hair longer and that it's a style you're trying out for a while.

Do keep your hair trimmed though, you don't want to end up looking scruffy and dirty.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

I think it depends on the guy really, but lots of guys look good with long hair.

"Give me a head with hair

Long beautiful hair

Shining gleaming screaming flaxen waxen."

Yeah, I am old but I still remember that song.

"Here baby, there mama, everywhere daddy daddy, hair."

My guess is that they want you to appear clean cut. It's up to you, go along with them, or tell them you are your own person and will keep it clean and trimmed. Sounds like that would be harder since they seem to have this idea in their head. I believe in individuality to a point. But if they want to fuss over it big time, just do it. You can do what you want once you turn 18.

Why is it that my parents want me to cut my hair?

My son was doing this, I would ask him the same thing sometimes. Its wasn't that it looked bad, it was that I couldn't see his handsome face. He's my son, i love to be able to see his face. He looks more clean cut with short hair, not that longer was bad, it just looks more free more non caring I guess. If you want to grow it out, just tell them that you want it longer and when they ask you so much, that it hurts your feelings, like they think you look bad. Tell them you will cut it whan you get tired of it. Bottom line, its your hair and if you want it this way then you should be able to express yourself.
