just tell her exactly what u told us.... that you want layers and side swept bangs. if u want, u can tell her how short you want the layers and ur bangs to b. or which way you want them to be swept.

see, my experiences are opposite of yours. whenever i dont bring in a pic they butcher my hair, but the one time i brought in one they did a great job!

why dont you tell her like you just said it? keep an eye on what she's doing and and guide her with, "Oh i want that this short' or "layered" or however you want it. Stylists are usually great at following directions and asking questions, although they should be considering what they're doing. If this one stylist doesn't suit your needs get a new one or talk to her or his/her supervisor.

Do you have layers in it now? If not, tell the stylist that you want to start out with a few longer layers, to see what they are going to look like. Then you can always take them shorter afterwards if you'd like. And always have a longer starting point for the bangs too, because once it's cut you can't put it back on!!!
