If you want to keep your hair in the style you have, just get a bit of a trim.

To get loose curls, you will need rollers - either hot rollers or velcro rollers with heat-activated setting spray. You spray small sections of hair with setting mist or spray, then roll up on each roller. If you're using the heat-activated spray, you then blow-dry your hair all over on hot and leave it to cool for quite a while. Carefully unroll the rollers. DO NOT BRUSH THE CURLS!!! (they will just turn to frizz, which is not a good look!) Just ease them out with your fingers until you have the looseness of curls you want. Then give it an all-over spray with hairspray to hold the curls.

If you want more the crimped, tousled look, just braid your hair all over into small braids, spray with setting mist, blow dry hot, let them cool, and proceed as above.

How successful your curls will be depends on a lot of factors, including how thick your hair is, how big the sections of hair you use are and what the humidity is.

Good Luck!

Go to the stylist and tell them what you want. They have photos of what it will look like. Then go from there.
