my bf and i started dating when i was 18, at 18 i wasnt so picky about my hair, and when i wanted something done i wanted it done right there and then. after we dated a couple months he was at my house and i told him how much i needed a hair cut, my hair was long at the time, and i asked if he thought he could cut it straight, and he said yes. so i let him cut it, when he was done there we so many parts that were longer then the others. so my mom came in and "tried" to fix it and made it worse, he tries one more time and it finaly came out straight. and actually didnt look that bad however they took like a good 4 inches off, it hit just past my shoulders. i can say this that was the first the last and the only time i let him OR my mom touch my hair.

I grew up without a mother, and my dad worked shifts, he would take us to the hairdressers, but he would hack into it himself sometimes too, and when people see pictures of me as a child they always say, what happened to your hair? I had a kind of shoulder length ast the back getting shorter to the front until it ended in a fringe of darth vader proportions.

As soon as I got old enough to look after it myself, I grew iy really long, and it's kinda been the same since. I keep up the family tradition of sawing bits off now and then with blunt sisscors. I have let a boyfriend trim it too, but only a tiny bit and I was really nervous, he did a good job though.

I have very long hair and in between salon trims if I need a bit off my husband does it for me. I stand on a chair and just have him go straight across the bottom. Curly hair is pretty forgiving if the trim is a bit uneven.

I cut my wife's' hair for her in between different hair styles so that they last longer (and I am definitely not gay we have 2 kids). Also, she cuts mine as I do not have much to worry about. Her hair style is easy though because it is fairly short, I would not touch it if were long hair other than perhaps to trim the ends. Lets face it it is not rocket science if it is just a trim you need.

I wouldn't suggest to let a man cut your hair, not even trim it. And vica versa... i cut my boyfriend's hair... he was mad at me for a week.... it could cause tension in the relationship if he messes up your hair! lol! i let my man comb it and play with it and try to style it but using the scissors is a no no!

When I was a baby my mom wanted to save some money so she had my dad cut her hair. Needless to say he ruined it. I was too young to remember what it looked like but she had to go to a salon and they fixed it for her, she ended up with layers, so I'm assuming he went pretty short. I've cut my dad's, brothers and mom's hair before with no problems...I guess women just have more of a nack for that sort of thing.

bad idea - asked for a straight trim - i have fairly long hair and showed him how much to take off (about half an inch) ended up losing two inches b'cos he couldnt 'get the line straight'.... dont do it!

I'm a hairdresser and have not had the time recently to have my own hair cut properly and so i did ask my husband to cut my hair, lent him my scissors and he cut it straight across the back and took off about 2inches. I really didn't find it a problem and would let him do it again if needed.

My husband cutting my hair made it so that i could leave it a little longer before getting it properly done.

Hair grows and can be cut again so i don't see the big problem

No but my dad used to. I hate the hair dressers so for years my dad would trim my hair. It wasn't bad either, but it was long and all one length so he couldn't really go wrong.

ok.......well yes....a guy friend "cut" (ATTACKED! more like....) my hair a bit.....hey it was a dare what can i say... but after that i have to say i will NEVER EVER let a guy near my head with scissors ever again.....unless he had like a phd in hair cutting or whatever.....

Nope, I cut my own hair ... It takes a little longer, but if you have good scissors, a big mirror in front of you, a hand mirror, and a mirror on your medicine cabinet in the bathroom (so you can see your hair/head from all angles) you're set. Takes time, patience, and good scissors ... and you have to know a little bit about style ... whether you're just trying to trim the ends in one length hair or trim layers or add layers. Oh, and make sure you have clips so that you can clip your hair up - you need to do your cutting in portions. Start w/ a little on the bottom of your head, and slowly add a little bit of hair from the top, that's clipped up ... it's kinda hard to explain in a way you can visualize, but ... just imagine how you see other's cut other people's hair, or your hair. Do the same.
