Yes, you need to trim it like every 3 months if you're growing it out. just 1/4 -1/2 inch will do -Usually. You or a trusted friend can do it...if its long..comb it down your bare back, wet, %26amp; have someone..MOM maybe...just trim off the very bottom. Hold it straight up..or out... if its shorter %26amp; hold it between your fingers %26amp; trim an even line. It makes a ton of difference. Don't try to do the back yourself. :O)

Yes to both questions. But if you mean only the bottom perimeter,you could probably get away with it once in a while. But you need to get the front %26amp; the layers trimmed too%26amp; that's best left to the pros.
