Women are allowed to cut their hair, but it should not resemble that of the non believing women plus sit should not be shorter than the shoulders length. There is a Hadith of Rasulullah that men , at times, have hair which reached up to his shoulders.

But please note if there are reasons then obviously this doe not apply.

At least, I haven't heard of anything that restricts the length hair should be cut. I doubt that exists.

There is no harm in cutting women's hair as long as there is no resemblance to men or non-Muslim women. The evidence is that the wives of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h.) used to have their hair cut until it became as 'Wafra' (i.e. hanging over shoulders). It is narrated in Sahih Muslim from Abu Salama Bin Abdur Rahman Bin Awf that they used to do so to reduce the burden that is caused by hair.

Imam Nawawi (May Allah have His Mercy upon him) said: 'This is an evidence of permissibility for cutting women's hair'.

However, intending to imitate men or non-Muslim women by this practice is strongly forbidden. Imam Bukhari narrated from Ibn Abbas that the Prophet (p.b.u.h.) "Has cursed men who make themselves like women and has cursed women who make themselves like men" .

I think it is women should not cut their hair so they look like men. It is also sunnah for a man to have hair just below the ear. I think it is recommended when a woman does hajj that she cut her hair a finger tips length.

Muslim women are allowed to cut their hair..but it is whilst hajj that a women can only cut their hair fingertips lengths.....

Abu Dawud and others reported on the authority Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (pbuh) said: 閳ユ凡omen (pilgrims) do not have to shave (their heads); they may only shorten their hair.閳?

Ibn Al-Mundhir points: "There is a scholarly consensus (ijma`) on this issue, because shaving a woman's head is in fact a sort of punishment for her."

As to how much of her hair a woman is to cut off, Ibn `Umar is reported to have said: "When a woman (pilgrim) wants to cut off her hair, she may hold her hair at the front and cut it off about the length of the tip of a finger."

According to `Ata', a woman should cut her hair off her sides, of the long hair as well as the short ones. This is reported by Sa`eed Ibn Mansur. Others hold that there is no limit as to how much a woman may cut off her hair. The Shafi`i school holds that cutting as much as three hairs is enough for a female pilgrim.

I have never heard of that before. My brother in law is an Aalim and my sister and me both get our haircuts every few months. If, for any reason, it was unlawful, I'm sure my brother in law would have encouraged us to stop going to get out hair cut.

havent heard that one before, to those saying women should not cut their hair to resemble a non believer, what does that mean? I cant cut my hair in a bob, have a fringe etc because a non muslim has the same hairstyle?, please elaborate.

this is according to the school of thought of Imam abu- Haneefa may Allah have mercy on him, but I do not follow his school of thought, so I do not believe that.
