It is definately counterproductive to not cut your hair. The ends will become gross and scraggly within 10 months and you would probably have to cut off any length gained in that time. Get 1/4"-1/2" cut every 6 weeks and go to the same stylist each time (it helps when the stylist knows your goals) Invest in salon deep treatments, perform scalp massages daily, shampoo not more than every other day, take vitamins, limit heat styling, and get those ends trimmed!

Human hair tends to grown about 6 inches a year.

Make sure that it's healthy. The main impediment to growing long hair is split ends that need to be trimmed. If you can keep these to a minimum, you should be fine.

Also, make sure you get plenty of sun. Vitamin D is essential to the growth of hair and nails. That's why hair tends to grow more during the summer when the weather is pleasant enough to be outside more.

I went to beauty school for a while, and they told us that you need to cut or trim your hair every 4 to 6 weeks. This prevents your hair from splitting. See once you have a split end, if you don't cut it it will continue to split, all the way up, and eventually break off. So depending on how much you do to your hair, (blow dry, curl, color etc.) will determin how often you should get it trimmed either 4 or 6 weeks. Hope this helped-Good luck!!

Most people can't grow thier hair past about down to thier hips, because of the average lifespan of hair. There have been some definate exeptions, with some women growing hair to really long lenths.

it keeps it healthier to get the ends trimmed, even ever so slightly, while growing out your hair. otherwise the ends will be uneaven and you could have split ends. It would look kinda raggedy. just get it evened out every 2 months or so maybe.

cutting it seems to make it grow faster...that's the way it works for me..or maybe I my hair just grows faster... and anyway, it's okay not to cut your hair for about a year---although u should snip an inch off it if you get split ends.
