Where in the Bible does it say that women should not cut their hair, and men should?

My mother, age 89, believes that women shouldn't cut their hair because the Bible says so. Her hair is very thin and fine and looks terrible being long and uncontrollable. If she had it cut short it would look so much better. How can I convince her that it is ok?

explain to her that when that was written in the BIble at that time women would worship an idol and were prostitues (they would shave the sides of their heads and leave the top long) so Paul wrote to thoses women who became Christians that they shouldnt cut their hair because people would accuse them of being prostitues. (so it was a shame to cut your hair.. because it was a sign of being a prostitu)

That's ******* stupid. So does she believe that kids that are defiant toward there parents should be stoned to death too?? 'Cause it says that in the bible Report It

Wow....I didn't know they said that...although I really don't practice religion....but...wow, thats kinda stupid!

I think at the age of 89, you won't be able to convince her different.

Have a Priest, Pastor, Rabbi, etc... (depending on her religion) talk to her about it. I am sure they will know what to say.

I'm not sure which part but it could have been saint Paul,he had a bit of a vendetta against women, didn't like them going about with their hair loose and various other things.

Look to the writtings of Paul. He is the one that suggested it but did NOT make it any kind of commandment.

1Cr 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?

1Cr 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for [her] hair is given her for a covering.
