I was always told a woman's hair is her glory but hair is work. You guy has no right to dictate to you how you wear your locks so if he is shallow enough to leave then you're better off. On the other hand, if you do cut it and he stays, he might get used to it. Just go with your gut and do what you feel. At least if you cut it, you'll have experienced it and made yourself happy in the process.

He's just looking for a reason to dump you. You should ask him if there's a reason WHY he doesn't like it short. If he says "Just because," then obviously you gotta dump him. If he gives you an actual reason, one that makes some sense, then just take that into consideration before you make the decision to dump him or not. But my best bet is that he doesn't really like you and he's just look for an excuse to get rid of you.

I'd cut my hair and mail it to him in a box with the rest of his crap. Noone has the right to try to control someone like that. It would be one thing if he said "Baby I wish you wouldn't. It has absolutely nothing to do with the length of your hair. About a week before my 16th birthday my parents showed up at the bowling alley I was at with my boyfriend. They had a brand new shiny red car with my name on it if I wanted it. Of course I wanted it! My bf told me that if I got a car he would leave me bc I would use it to drive around and hit on guys. Guess what. I got the car and mailed him a picture of me in it! It took him about 3 months before he came crawling back and I told him "Sorry but you left me so I had to find someone new. I met him at a stop light in my new car!" He recently found me on myspace and told me that he always thinks about that and how young and dumb he was. He thought the picture was ballsy and I got my point across. Go cut your hair if that's what you want.
